Quarter Final
Press Tab vs Professors #1 – bb901783-3fa2-4a81-a6f9-932068c86f1e
First game of the tournaments and the favorite was without doubt Professors. Nonetheless we get the first blood being secured by Press Tab and the first objectives as well in the form of the mini Prime thanks to an early lane swap between duo lane and offlane. Unfortunately that rotation also cost them a ton of farm on their Carry which allowed Survivor to start popping off on the Drongo and then teamfight where rough to play. On top of that CrazzyFool is still hitting is hook on Riktor which is very oppressive as soon as you fall a bit behind.
Press Tab vs Professors #2 – 4095332c-07a6-434d-bbdc-40a29eaf5a0f
Press Tab there back against the wall still believing in themselves and in their strategy, pulled again the lane swap and this time with better success since they did not fall too far behind from it. They also started to death-ball which grouping as 5 and try to run down the map and to be fair it worked quite well, until the point that Professors started to catch onto their strategy and win a decisive fight after losing 2 but setting up a wonderful BlackHole from SoulReaper which after the respawn offered an Orb Prime to Professors. Using it they started to Siege and the defense was badly executed by Press Tab which ended up in an immediate loss. This is where the lack of experience showed but still impressed that Press Tab came with a plan and try their to not make it easy for Professors.
Dirty Lake and the Boys vs Flow State #1 – 4fc609d1-d9d2-47cd-8576-9d4285b664b0
This quarter was the most promising quarter on paper and oh boy this game delivered. An amazing battle between those 2 teams with Flow State showing up strong in their duo lane, but then losing up a bit of control, until they win a clean teamfight at 2nd Fangtooth before DLAB seize initiative again, until an amazing back and force teamfight that seen Flow State on top securing an Orb Prime super cleanly but getting punished immediately by an amazing Subjugate from Sevarog. We even get a great defense against a double buff late game push and an ending fighting for the last Orb Prime that could have gone either way to close it out. Great match, intense fight, definitely on the should watch list.
Dirty Lake and the Boys vs Flow State #2 – bb73f2d2-930d-4c08-9cf5-8a2723a9e5b1
Second match, not as amazing as the first one. Flow State started well punishing some over-aggressive move from Appiepicker but then a big wombo combo combining Narbash Ult and Gideon Ult completely turn the tide and once DLAB took grasp of the game they never let go, ensuring their advancement in the semi final.
The Chefs vs What If #1 – 5fa60366-bb8c-44b4-8b1d-f47f633dfc12
What If drafted an early mid game comp and manage to utilize it well, getting a decent lead early with some great plays from Skype Hamster on the Gideon. However, the Chef had the scaling comp and also have the more experience when it comes to teamfight and it definitely showed. Also, itemization on the side of What If kinda stopped their momentum and so they could not convert their advantage into a win. This game showcase a bit that it is important to adapt your builds based on what is the game state and what the team composition are, otherwise you will make the game harder on yourself.
The Chefs vs What If #2 – 6d42d1f5-a8f2-4183-8335-99093f826923
Ok we have a Rampage Offlane from What If, I have no idea what this is about and I don’t see what really is the goal behind it. In the end we saw a bit of potential during teamfight thanks to the dive potential of Khaimera and Rampage in the same team making the target that get jumped on have a tough moment but the Gadget picked by The Chefs was more than enough to fully dismantle any attemps of the Dive comp of What If.
Indecisive vs The Hive #1 – e54e2efc-3daa-4ae2-aeb1-c4306cd7f89c
Indecisive vs The Hive #2 – e1b0c714-48e9-4bd5-a185-a2581d35ea30
The EU Boys joining the NA tourney and despite the ping they absolutely crushed Hive. Whether game it is in this series there is unfortunately not much to say. There was a pretty solid difference of level on most of the roles leading to a very one sided series with not much of surprising moments.
Semi Final
Professors vs Dirty Lake and the Boys #1 – 93c8a045-c252-489a-82f9-398d1674bc5e
The semis started great with that game, Professors getting first blood early but getting answer immediately with revenge kill on the opposite side of the map. We go for an early Fangtooth for DLAB, Prof try to trade objectives with mini prime but DLAB are too fast and contest and steal it, putting them on the drive sit. From here and on DLAB kept pressuring and consolidated their lead through a great teamfight where the Narbash heals where too much. To be fair, no anti-heal on the side of Professors at that point against Narbash was maybe a bit troll. Still they are a top team and despite being super far behind manage to trade big objective by picking up Lauber and converting it into an Orb Prime but it only delays the inevitable. Better scaling comp with triple Fangtooth was too much to handle.
Professors vs Dirty Lake and the Boys #2 – 2e9a5bc7-9942-4273-a135-237e21ad948d
Holy molly this was a great game, Prof shifting their strategy with a very heavy damage comp and dominating the early game after a bad Fangtooth contest from DLAB. Though DLAB manage to slow down the game just enough to force some great teamfight and even out the game. Then it was some great teamfight after great teamfight with Prof looking at killing Lakenator through the dives of Kallari and amazing Synaptic Obliterator from CrazzyFool while DLAB showed amazing coordination and synergy with the combo of BlackHole and Colossal Blow, while also Lakenator surviving most of those teamfight to dish out insane damage.
The Chefs vs Indecisive #1 – 59edda6d-d874-426b-a4de-6911a96f9f46
There is some disclaimer for this match, Cold the main carry of Chef was not available and they had to pull out an emergency sub that scramble their roles which put Chef on a tough spot and it showed. Indecisive started to dominate but Chef was showing some sign of hope, they even almost pulled out a sneaky Orb Prime but Import the demon king of objectives stealing was present and after that steal the game was to though to play for the Chefs.
The Chefs vs Indecisive #2 – c0d7d195-7fb0-46da-923e-bdc189220781
Their back against the wall the Chef decided to cook hard and in the first place they drafted something that looked very weird and to be honest don’t make a lot of sense but after watching them play, I see the goal was to make the game chaotic since they had to play with unconventional role and an emergency sub they acknowledged they needed to make the game unconventional to stand a chance. And it worked started to dominate every single fight in the mid game and Indecisive looked a bit puzzled, but that was until Neft had enough and solo carry a teamfight that translated into Indecisive getting back the momentum and making the game normal again which allowed them to secure the series.
Grand Final
Dirty Lake and the Boys vs Indecisive #1 – 52726fa3-23e8-475b-922c-52faaac85bf7
DLAB looked really sharp in the semis and Indecisive looked a bit more affordable on their side and it showed in that game. Thanks to the strength of the Narbash support DLAB were able to secure most of the objectives to get a triple Fangtooth and slowly manage to chip away at Indecisive until they manage to secure the first win of this Grand Final.
Dirty Lake and the Boys vs Indecisive #2 – 76f33f92-d29e-4ba0-8dde-5d15d806a318
DLAB still undefeated with Lauber in PCC 7 were coming strong with the first win and the first blood in that second game but that is basically the only thing they got in that game. After the first blood Indecisive started to dominate every skirmish, every objectives and put up a surgical win with never letting any chance for DLAB to get anything going. Series is tied 1 to 1.
Dirty Lake and the Boys vs Indecisive #3 – 6c0f2261-525d-4388-a7d8-9a1aef229948
Narbash first ban, I love those grand final in BO5 since draft evolve so much through them. Overall a very slow game at the beginning both fighting super hard for every single kill, only 8 deaths for the first 25 minutes of the game. DLAB slight advantage due to securing more objectives even though they 50/50 2 of them but Indecisive find some good kills and manage to trade important objectives and open the map. The tension is at his maximum a slight mistake can cost the game and a moment of brilliance can win it, that is how tight the balance was. And Toasty found a great long range stun on the enemy Morigesh that open THE teamfight that only concluded in a 2 for 1 on the side of DLAB but it was still enough to secure Primal Fangtooth which was the triple Fangtooth forcing Indecisive to try to contest the Orb Prime afterwards and unfortunately for them Import lose the 3rd 50/50 of the match not being the usual demon king that we know. DLAB up 2 to 1.
Dirty Lake and the Boys vs Indecisive #4 – d0010de7-bcc1-405b-9ec1-90a78706ad88
Once again a game where every kills needs to be earned. DLAB focusing a lot Morose on the Grux this game stopping any snowball potential and letting Lauber scaling on his trusted Sevarog. Game was on a stand still until Indecisive feeling a bit impatient go for a Zarus Coliseum engage taking advantage of down flash but the cage is slightly of and Lakenator survive long enough to turn the fight around and secure a clean teamfight win, which they convert into the Orb Prime and into the win, allowing DLAB to finally receive their first crown.
